Two cranes sit in the yard at Knuckey Lagoon, a 13 tonne Kato and a 30 tonne Tadano, and between them they take the hard part out of a lot of jobs: lifting a tree out of a back yard from street level, setting a stump grinder down somewhere nothing can drive to, or picking a fallen trunk off a roof in one lift. For anything beyond the two of them we have access to cranes up to 130 tonne. Xtreme Garden Care has been working in the tree industry for over 20 years.

Tree removal on a difficult site is where that gear pays for itself. A rotten or dangerous tree comes out in controlled lifts instead of being dropped, several trees can go from a single crane set-up, and a tree standing hard against a house is taken down without anything touching the building.

Tree pruning covers the shaping work and the hazard reduction side: dead wooding, taking weight out of long branches, and cutting back whatever has grown into a roofline or over a fence. Trees fail up here for particular reasons, and we know what we are looking at: heat stress dropping limbs, saturated ground letting a whole root plate go, old cavities and split branch unions, weak regrowth off a bad lopping years back, and termites hollowing out a trunk that still looks solid from the outside.

The 24 hour emergency service is for the nights when it does go wrong. We will make the property and the remaining trees secure so other trades can get on site and do their work, and we will walk you through claiming part or all of the cost on your home and contents insurance. Insurance work is one of the things we are set up for.

Stump grinding is done on our own machines, anywhere across Darwin, Palmerston and the rural blocks, and we do root pruning where roots have found their way into paths and pipes. A block that needs land clearing gets taken back to bare ground. You can buy back the mulch from your own tree if you want it on the garden, and we sell it by the load otherwise. There is a contract and commercial gardening side to the business as well, right down to general garden clean ups.
