About This Business
Between Caboolture and the Redlands there are four councils, and each one has its own rules about which trees you are allowed to touch. Your Local Tree Guy works right through that stretch, taking in Kedron, The Gap, Ashgrove, Kenmore, Clayfield, Paddington, Stafford Heights, Indooroopilly, Mount Gravatt East, Albion and Hendra, and we deal with Brisbane City, Logan City, Redland City and Moreton Bay often enough to know what each of them needs to see before a protected tree can legally come down.
Plenty of people ring here and ask us to cut a tree back to gutter height. It makes complete sense on the surface, and it is one of the few things we will not do. Topping a tree that way goes against Australian standards, causes serious long term damage, and can end up leaving the tree more dangerous than it was before anyone touched it. Caleb filmed a short explainer walking through a real conversation with a client about exactly that, and it is worth the few minutes before we come out to quote, because knowing it in advance usually saves you money as well as the tree.
Your Local Tree Guy is the Pratt family. Caleb is the director, Denise runs the office, and Paul is our AQF Level 5 arborist. There are 34 years of experience behind the business, our arborists hold AQF5 Diplomas and Certificate 3 qualifications, and you will find us on the Queensland Arboricultural Association's Register of Approved Contractors and Consultants. We are fully insured, and we work for residential, commercial and government clients across the region.
On the tools that means tree removal for the dead gum in the back corner or the big one leaning over a roof, and where the tree is protected we take care of the permits and approvals that go with it. Pruning and lopping are cut to Australian standards, which is the whole point of that explainer, and a tree pruning tidy up before storm season costs a good deal less than an emergency call in the middle of one. Once a tree is down, stump removal gets the remains out of the ground so you are not mowing around them, and palm tree removal is on the list as well. Where a council or an insurer wants an assessment in writing before anything happens on site, we write tree reports.
The other side of the business is commercial tree removal and council works, for property managers, builders and body corporates, where the approvals are usually the thing holding everything else up. Emergency tree removal runs alongside all of it, so if a limb has come down overnight, or a tree has shifted and you are not confident it is going to stay where it is, our crew gets across Brisbane quickly. The office is open 6am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, quotes are free, and we clean up properly before we leave. Ring 0474 095 278 or send an email, and we will come out and price it.
